some thoughts....
-two hours in the car alone isn't a bad thing, it can help clear your head
-the 50+ pound backpack wasn't really that heavy
-I should have taken Russ's offer of a Long Trail before starting out
-the 1.5 mile hike to the hut with said overstuffed pack was almost enoyable!
-I didn't expect to be down to a tee-shirt after just 15 minutes on the trail
-catching up to Gary near the Lake was an unexpected surprise
-I knew that the box of wine I found as I crossed Lonesome Lake was too good to be true. It fell off of Rick's sled as he crossed ahead of me
-hanging around for an afternoon doing nothing is a great way to spend time
-the view of Franconia Ridge from the bunkhouse porches is one of the best in the Whites
-it was funny watching Salty's food and clothes arrive before he did
-MacAllan scotch is awesome!
-Said scotch may have had much to do with me putting on that name tag
-Jaytrek is a great sport
-Jim and Cathie are two amazingly strong people.
-Dennis is one fine chef
-Rick can perc coffee and cook french toast with the best of them
-Darlene's cranberry sauce should be in its own food group
-I learned more about Lact-Aid than I ever thought possible
-French toast, mashed potatoes, sausage and ham, covered in maple syrup is a fine breakfast
-the pack full of empty bottles didn't make nearly as much noise as I thought it might
-the ride home sucks, because it's the ride home
I"m sure there are many more....feel free to add on
It was a great time with old and new friends. When does the planning for next year begin?
