That first touch, so soft and smooth, but it was clear that you were also tough. Sleek lines and so well put together. You smelled so good, so new. But could we be together? How I hoped it could be. I spent hours getting to know you, you quirks, your touch, and how tender you were. Amazingly enough we needed very little break in time. We were made for one another. We have been through so much, so many ups and downs, good weather and bad, day and night, you were there for me, and I for you. Sadly, now as you show your age, I'm thinking of moving on.
Your skin shows wrinkles and splits. Some parts seem to be falling apart. I suppose we could find a way to repair and upgrade, but is it worth it? I'm thinking not. Sometime soon I will have to let you go. I have already begun looking for a replacement. Newer, lighter, more technically advanced. But so many choices.
I do so love you, my Lowa hiking boots, but after thirteen years, I fear your end is near.
